How to Make Your Own Italian Dressing Mix

I know. I know. Why on earth would you make this when they sell it so conveniently in those little packets in the grocery store? Well, for one, those packets are oftentimes full of ingredients that you can't even pronounce. And, for two, if you're like me, you will inevitably have everything you need to make a recipe or dinner EXCEPT these little packets. AND I'M NOT HAULING IT TO THE GROCERY STORE FOR A PACKET OF ANYTHING.

Additionally, if you can make your own Taco Seasoning, you can make your own Italian Dressing Mix! Trust me, you already have all of the ingredients.

Italian Dressing Mix
1 Tbsp garlic powder
1 Tbsp onion powder
1 Tbsp granulated sugar
2 Tbsp dried oregano
1 tsp ground black pepper
1/4 tsp dried thyme
1 tsp dried basil
1 Tbsp dried parsley
1/4 tsp celery flakes
2 Tbsp salt
  1. Mix all spices together. Store in an airtight container.
  2. To prepare dressing, mix 1/4 cup vinegar of choice, 2/3 cup olive oil, 2 Tbsp water, and 2 Tbsp of the dry mix.
Notes: In other "recipes" I've seen like this posted on other sites, the garlic and celery are both listed as salts (garlic salt and celery salt). I have tried those versions and those spices in addition to 2 Tbsp salt makes for a very salty mix. Try both versions and decide which you like best.
