Wire Beaded Jewelry

For you avid crocheters, I'm sure it comes as no shock to you that if you can crochet with yarn, you can also crochet with wire. Well, add a few beads and you have yourself some snazzy jewelry.

I created these pieces using this free crochet pattern tutorial Crochet Beaded Necklace Video Tutorial.

This first piece of wire crochet jewelry is a bracelet that I tend to wear in the summer. The beads' colors remind me of sea glass. I modified the pattern by using an H sized hook and making it shorter into a bracelet.

This second piece is a red necklace that I usually wear around Christmas and Valentine's Day. I modified the pattern by using an H sized hook and using seed beads in some of the areas that would have ordinarily been plain wire.

I found it surprisingly easy to crochet with wire (and here I thought it would be a bear). If you haven't tried it before, I encourage you to give it a go.

  1. The second one look promising especially since valentine's day is just a couple of days away. I wonder where I could purchase these things though. :)

  2. Rachel, this may not help you out in time for this Valentine's Day, but my best suggestion would be to check out craft shows (most areas feature these around Christmas time). Or if your area has any specialty craft shops that feature handmade items by local artists, that would be another good suggestion. Depending on the types of vendors at these places, I wouldn't think it too terribly difficult to find someone who crochets with wire and beads in your area. Hope this helps and let us know how your search pans out!
