Santa was in Town a Little Early...

But this wasn't just another case of early holiday overkill.  No sir, there was a very good explanation.

Last night John and I attended the taping of the CMA Country Christmas special in Nashville.  It airs on television on December 20 this year so be sure to check it out!   You might even see us in the crowd- really, you might, and there's a story behind that too.

We purchased the "Cheapo Charlie" seats which ended up being up in the rafters, but we literally paid $20 each for a night full of country music stars singing our favorite Christmas songs!  So we figured for that price, it didn't matter where we sat.

But a few minutes before show time, we saw the ushers starting to move the people sitting down on the floor up as close to the stage as they could to fill in the empty seats.  For TV, of course, they want a nice full audience.  So, John and I looked at each other and took off as quickly as we could down toward the floor level.  Once we got down there, they didn't even ask to see tickets; they just wanted to know how many seats we needed!  So our cheap little tickets ending up getting us access to the stage level seating.  And to make things a little better, about midway through the show, as a few people left here and there, the ushers came back to take more people closer to the stage, so I jumped up and said "Us!  Right here!  We'll go!", and that's all it took!  We were escorted just a few rows from the stage!

Jennifer Nettles, of Sugerland, hosted the show, and was joined by acts like Lady Antebellum (pictured below), The Band Perry, Keith Urban, Martina McBride, and lots of others!   What a night!

Be sure to check it out later in December.  You might even see a couple of familiar looking audience members rubbing shoulders with Santa and the like.  :)
